About the Whole Window Corner Radius Thing in macOS 26

While many people have issues with macOS 26, perhaps the most complained about is the new corner radius on mac windows and other user interface elements. Ever since macOS 26 came out there has been complaint after complaint about it, in particular the inconsistency across apps, and the belief that it takes up a huge amount of screen real estate. However, I think there is a little bit of confusion and exaggeration around this. I also think the corner radius just isn’t the big issue people are making it out to be. And there are plenty of other problems in macOS 26 that are far more egregious in my opinion.

Why change the radius in the first place? Was it just bad design?

So people are wondering why Apple even changed the radius in the first place. Others suggest that it is just bad design, or form over function. While it may seem as if it were done just for the sake of it, there are legitimate design reasons to what they did. For a start, it matches the rounded corners of just about every Apple hardware product out there. On a laptop, it matches the radius of the top of the screen and the bezels around the hand rest. It’s the same as the corners on your iPhone, and the same as the corners of the AirPods case. It’s Apple’s signature design feature at this point, so why not mimic that in…
